Dr. Audrey Evans inspires me because her work demonstrates the lasting impact of perseverance and commitment to pediatric health.

Like Dr. Evans, I faced challenges on my path to becoming a pediatrician, overcoming obstacles in medical school and entering a male-dominated field at the time. Her ability to break barriers while improving care for children resonates with my own journey.

I’m inspired by Dr. Evans because she always put children’s needs first. While my impact is on a different scale, I have always prioritized listening to, caring for and advocating for my patients and their families. This commitment led me to an administrative leadership role, where I work to enable pediatricians with the resources they need to provide high-quality, personalized care to families across our diverse community.

Beyond the hospital, Dr. Evans’ dedication to underserved children, particularly through St. James School, also inspires me. Throughout my career, I have worked to improve opportunities for mothers and children, going beyond hospital walls to engage in community health programs like Healthy Women Houston and the March of Dimes to help families access the care they need and create opportunities they may not have thought possible.

I want my legacy to be That I treated each person with respect.   That I truly listened to my patients, my colleagues, and my community. That I worked to improve equity and access in pediatric health care so every child, regardless of background, had access to care.
